Churches are interesting
Churches, and more broadly cathedrals, are interesting structures. This post is not about religion in any shape or form. But more about my experience staring at churches from my travels and how it relates to a certain French band.
I’ve always been amazed by how large cathedrals and churches in the countryside look. They have a unique look that in many ways tell a story of the land And the location. You could argue that this is true for buildings in general, but I think the reason it is striking to me is how symbolic churches are meant to be.
A church somewhere in Mongolia is strikingly different from another in the boonies of Michigan.
Naturally, you wonder why I am writing any of this. Well, I spent a lot of time in the “countryside” somewhere not too far off from Cleveland, in addition to just exploring, I started listening to the French electro duo. Justice , specifically their debut album Cross(you should listen to btw)
And slowly, I started to notice just how many crosses I had run into. But this only clicked after one listening to track 11 (Waters of Nazareth ) while passing by the first church of the Nazarene. Unrelated ? Probably, but it was interesting nontheless and kick started my whole thought process about how symbolic churches can be just from an architectural standpoint.

Originally planned to throw in a pic of the Nazarene church i saw, but convineiently can’t find it so these will have to suffice.
